Labor Day Weekend In Wisconsin Dells

Hotel: Comfort Suites in Portage, WI

Review: 4/5 - would stay again

Pros: Clean, roomy suites, sizeable indoor pool, 2 hot tubs, free parking, only 20 minutes from Lake Delton and Wisconsin Dells, washer/dryer on site, vending in lobby, several cable channels, continental breakfast has good variety

Cons:  Wifi didn't work at any point of our 3 day trip, some members of staff weren't super helpful/friendly

Day 1:

Original Wisconsin Ducks (3.5/5) - The cheapest option seems to be purchasing tickets online.  Ducks run every 20 minutes and you don't have to purchase a specific time.  They operate rain or shine and are held half on land, half on the Wisconsin River.  The guide we had was friendly and outgoing.  The only problem is that it was next to impossible to hear him over the loudspeaker.  The guides make their money from selling booklets and postcards that are $5 cash only.

Witches Gulch (almost) - We tried to drive here but apparently it's not available by land.  You need to take a boat tour to get there.

Ripley's Believe It Or Not (4.5/5) - Around $16, very interesting experience.  A lot of macabre and sometimes disturbing stuff.  May not be appropriate for small children.  One of my favorite museum experiences in a while.  Highlights: locked gate, very top secret floor, bullet shot inside another gun, neck rings, vampire killing kit, animals with multiple limbs.

Moosejaw Restaurant (4.5/5) - This is a very famous local pizza place and brewery.  It's very busy, but worth it.  The beer and cheese soup and pizzas are delicious.

Day 2

Noah's Ark Waterpark (4/5) - Tickets around $25-39/person.  We purchased ours through Goldstar.  Parking is another $15-20.  Lockers are also $15-20.  You need to bring a towel, none are provided there. You can buy a towel there if necessary.  They give you a $2 off coupon with your parking receipt.  They claim to be the largest water park.  We were there when it was raining so lines were very short.  We only waited about 10-15 minutes for each ride, but I would expect this to be much longer on a sunny day.   The rides are no joke.  There are some very scary waterslides here.  There is also a much less scary wave pool and lazy river if that's more your speed.

Day 3: Driving Home to Illinois
Stops at a Cheese Chalet and another detour to Madison to see the state capitol building which is beautiful, and which offers tours.

5 Great Bingeworthy Shows on Netflix

Not in any particular order... Lovebird - Turkish melodrama about an orphan who is raised by her aunt and uncle and who has a love/hate relationship with her handsome cousin (which in that time period/culture wasn't weird apparently.) Lovebird has stunningly beautiful lead actors (who are newly married btw, they met while making the show). The acting is a little over the top but that seems to be the normal style. I got addicted quickly to the storyline and incredible chemistry between the stars. It is an emotional rollercoaster in the best way. The Office (US) - Classic NBC sitcom based on the British version created by Ricky Gervais. Super funny, and the humor still holds up over time. There are also some great love storylines for the romantics out there. Parks and Rec - Another great NBC sitcom produced by some of the same people that worked on the office and Amy Poehler. It is about the trials and tribulations surrounding local politics. It took me a few e...
